This summer, Açaí Bros moved from Parsons Green to Rodney Street, now conveniently positioned next to the Botanics for new students who want to explore the city and escape the chaos around main campus at lunch. I’m looking at you, The Picnic Basket.
The cafe has featured so often on my Instagram accounts that my friends started to question if I was harbouring some sort of secret sponsorship from the cafe. I’m not, but my DMs are always open… However, my loyalty stems from a year-long devotion to their cacao crunch bowls topped with Nutella, strawberries, banana, peanut butter and cacao chips that I’ve convinced myself must equate to at least three of my five a day, with my brain easily forgetting the fact that I’ve just consumed the world’s largest spoon of chocolate spread as well.
Whilst I’ve tried other açaí bowls around Edinburgh under the guise of justifying that Açaí bros is truly the best, no other lunch spot has come close to the cafe.
For those of you who remain sceptical of açaí, which I find impossible to comprehend, there is also a wide range of bagels, sandwiches and smoothies for you to try. As someone who continues to be affected by the decline of bagels on the high street, as apparently I am still stuck in 2018, finding high-quality smashed avocado or deli melts feels like a rare treat.
Overall, if you’re looking for a cute lunch spot with friends or just want to make the most of the city, be sure to head to Açaí Bros sometime soon. And whilst part of me secretly hopes that no one reads this as I reluctantly reveal it, I highly recommend that everyone goes before I regret telling you about it.
