Fringe 2026: My Name is Spring Day And Other Stupid Facts

Rating: 4 out of 5.

My Name is Spring Day and Other Stupid Facts may be one of the most unappreciated stand-up comedy shows of this Fringe season.

In this quick paced and quick-witted hour-long comedy show, Spring Day shares an impressive collection of anecdotes with the audience about her travels, her family, and her life with cerebral palsy. The show is also packed with interesting observations or “stupid facts” as Day describes them. For example, did you know that apparently during the world cup this summer, Kansas City (Day’s hometown) had more sex with people visiting to watch the football than any other host city?

Day is performing in the Garden Room at Bar 50, which she describes as “one of the very few wheelchair accessible venues at the Fringe.” This is a very small venue which gives the show an intimate feel, but also led to some slight awkwardness as there were only 11 people, myself included, in the audience. While I understand that this is entirely out of the comics control, I must admit that it did slightly dampen my experience watching her perform; if you were hoping to hide in the crowd and avoid any social interaction then this is definitely not the show for you. Yet, although many other performers could easily have been put off by being on stage in front of such a small crowd, Day takes it in her stride and delivers an excellent stand-up comedy routine.

I believe that Spring Day has found a careful balance between telling stories from her own experiences and poking fun at stories from recent headlines. The show covers a wide selection of topics ranging from Brooklyn Beckham’s drama filled wedding to the extremely good-looking doctors in Swiss euthanasia clinics. It is within these witty cultural observations that Day’s humour shines through most.

Spring Day is a truly engaging storyteller who deserves to be performing to a much larger audience.

My Name is Spring Day and Other Stupid Facts has now finished its run at the Edinburgh Fringe.
