Lifestyle Tip: The 5 Second Rule

When scrolling on Tiktok I stumbled upon Mel Robbins’ “The 5 Second Rule.” Although extremely straightforward, Robbins claims that the best way to force yourself to take action is to count backwards from five to one. The short countdown means you have no time to procrastinate and instead are forced to act.
The great thing about this rule is that it can be applied to practically anything, from getting out of bed in the morning to deciding to start an assignment or put down your phone. I have definitely found since adopting this trick that I have become a lot more productive, as in the words of Robbins the secret to change “isn’t knowing what to do- it’s knowing how to make yourself do it.”
