I don’t think I see anyone in the gym without a pair of headphones (it’s a devastating day when you forget yours too…). And, I always wonder whether people are listening to music or a podcast. For me personally, it’s a podcast all the way. More specifically, Dish. Would you call this rogue when lifting weights? Maybe? But, if you love a feel-good, easy-to-follow podcast, then this one is for you!
In a nutshell, it’s simply Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett having a good old natter with a celebrity whilst sitting at a dinner table and eating food cooked by the Michelin-starred chef herself. It’s gossip about cooking, food favourites and life updates, so basically a dinner party through phone. Think of Off Menu, but less starter-main-side-dessert and a bit more general foody chit-chat.
Each week, there’s a new guest and a new dish – neither of which falls short of fab. Sue Perkins and prawn laksa curry, Bob Mortimer and a Kedgeree-style monkfish rice and my recent fav, Helena Bonham Carter and cheese toasties! And, with over eight seasons, there are plenty of others to choose from.
What makes it so good is the friendship between Nick and Angela! They complement each other so well, and I love that they are genuinely friends outside of the podcast as well! They like to make (friendly) fun of each other and have a laugh together, often to the point I’m laughing out loud too (which is not a good look in the gym).
So, if you’re a podcast-listener in the gym like me, find a celebrity on Dish you think would be a bit of fun, and I promise you, the time will fly by, and you’ll walk out of Pleasance with a smile.
