Anticipated releases for November

The cinematic landscape is preparing for an exciting end to 2024. So, take a look at this list– one of these upcoming releases might draw you to the cinema this November.

Heretic (2024)
Heretic, directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, opens on 8 November. This new A24 thriller stars Hugh, and he plays a man with dark secrets who traps unsuspecting young missionaries at his ominous residence. Known for A Quiet Place, Beck and Woods craft a tale that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Red One (2024)
On a lighter note, Red One, directed by Jake Kasdan, also opens on 8 November. This action-adventure film features an ensemble including J.K. Simmons, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, and Lucy Liu. The story centers on the absurd premise of Santa Claus (Simmons) being kidnapped, prompting a rescue mission led by North Pole security (Johnson) and a bounty hunter (Evans). This one might be starting off our holiday spirit. 

Gladiator II (2024)
Ridley Scott returns to the screen with Gladiator II, set to open on 22 November. Featuring Paul Mescal as a now-adult Lucius alongside Denzel Washington, this sequel revisits the epic narrative that captivated audiences 24 years ago. The film explores the complexities of power as Lucius ascends to the throne, with Nielsen reprising her role as Lucilla.

Wicked (2024)
Wicked, directed by Jon M. Chu, opens on 22 November, adapting the beloved Broadway musical that offers a new perspective on the Wicked Witch of the West. Cynthia Erivo stars as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, creating a dynamic that should resonate with fans. Chu’s vision transports viewers to Oz, promising a visual spectacle while expanding on the original’s themes.

Moana 2 (2024)
Another sequel from Disney! Disney surprises audiences with Moana 2, directed by Dave Derrick Jr., premiering on 27 November, 2024. Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson are expected to reprise their roles as Moana and Maui and go on a new adventure as they did previously.

Queer (2024)
Luca Guadagnino’s Queer, also opening on 27 November, features Daniel Craig, Drew Starkey, and Jason Schwartzman. Set in 1940s Mexico City, this romantic drama follows a man on the run (Craig) who forms a connection with an American Navy serviceman (Starkey). With rich storytelling and Craig’s standout performance, the film adds a compelling layer to this year’s cinematic offerings.
