Athlete in Focus: Christian Pulisic

The LeBron James of Soccer, Captain America, and the king of American football – Christian Pulisic is lighting it up this year in Serie A. Pulisic made history as the first American to start and win the Champions League with Chelsea and score in the semi-finals versus Spanish giants Real Madrid to get Chelsea through.  After a rocky relationship with Chelsea, like plenty of other players at the club, Pulisic packed his bags for AC Milan at the start of last year, trading in the more physical league in the Premier League, for a more tactically heavy one.

While Milan’s results have been very lacklustre this season, Pulisic has been like a fine wine, getting better with age – or at least better at staying healthy for a whole season. Last season marked a significant highlight in his career, and this year, he appears to be performing at an even higher level, impressing defenders with his skill, and leaving them questioning their readiness on the pitch. So far this season, Captain America has seven goals and three assists in just 12 games. He is the first player in the European top five leagues to go seven straight games with a goal contribution.

For the U.S. national team, Christian Pulisic has become the go-to player in high-pressure moments, consistently delivering goals and assists that keep the team competitive on the global stage. His experience in elite European leagues – starting with Borussia Dortmund in Germany, then Chelsea in the Premier League, and now with AC Milan – has sharpened his technical skills and tactical insight, making him one of the most refined players ever to emerge from American soccer. As the face of a young, promising generation, Pulisic is not only a vital force on the field, but also a symbol of American football’s rising stature, inspiring new waves of fans and aspiring players. His leadership and undeniable talent make him a crucial asset as the U.S. eyes the 2026 World Cup, where, with Pulisic leading on home soil and guided by the strategic vision of manager Mauricio Pochettino, the U.S. team is poised for a deep and promising run.
