Members of Edinburgh University Justice for Palestine Society (EUJPS) have blocked entrances to the University of Edinburgh’s finance building, Charles Stewart House.
This is part of an ongoing protest by EUJPS “against The University of Edinburgh’s financial complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”
At a speech given at the protest, EUJPS said this action was in response to the University Court’s continued failure to divest from companies complicit in the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
The University Court is the institution’s governing body.
Protests began on the morning of 12 February 2025.
This action is in coordination with Glasgow University Justice for Palestine Society (GUJPS), who have blocked all entrances to the Rankine building which houses the University of Glasgow’s School of Engineering.
This follows an announcement that arms companies BAE Systems, Airbus, and Leonardo UK will no longer participate at the University of Edinburgh Career Fairs as a result of student opposition.
