What’s Happening in Edinburgh This Month?

With spring officially in bloom, March is the perfect time to take a break from midterms and explore more of the wonderful opportunities Edinburgh has to offer. From fashion shows to makers markets, to chocolate tours, our Lifestyle guide will ensure a month full to the brim with adventure. 

Pre-loved Charity Fashion Show: Saturday 8th, 4-7pm

O2 Academy, £5 on Eventbrite

Alongside a live DJ, the catwalk will come alive with pre-loved evening wear and prom dresses, available to buy at the event from as little as £10 to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Jak’s Den. 

Craft & Flea’s Makers Market: Sunday 16th, 10-4pm

Assembly Rooms, £3 on Eventbrite

Back again, Craft & Flea will return with new traders as well as firm favourites to house a variety of local, handmade crafts and vintage products such as illustrations and homewares. 

The Night Market: Friday 28th, 6-11pm 

The Biscuit Factory, £4 on TicketSource or £4.50 on the door

Ponder the stalls of 60 traders in the artistically repurposed Biscuit Factory near Leith, offering an array of treasures from vintage clothing to jewellery, to candles. The live DJ, street food and bar make it the perfect way to welcome in the weekend!

Buy Social Fair: Saturday 29th, 11am-4pm

The Melting Pot, £5 on Ticket Tailor

With a focus on sustainability and caring for people and our planet, there will be 17 stalls offering ethical and handmade products, as well as a range of inspiring talks focused on “buying social”, held throughout the day. Each ticket is also redeemable for a free co-working day at The Melting Pot until May. 

Drawing Tours Fashion Illustration: Saturday 29th, 10:30am-12pm  

National Galleries of Scotland: Modern One, £20 on Eventbrite

Run by local artist Hannah Kelly, this friendly and lively drawing tour acts as a creative outlet for all, regardless of experience. Building on key shapes and concepts while taking inspiration from the surrounding gallery, you will create your own collection of fashion designs. All materials are provided. 

Support The Makers Market: Saturday 29th, 11am-6pm

Lind and Lime Gin Distillery, Free entry

Scottish-based makers will come together in Leith to showcase a vast collection of local art, design and accessories such as ceramics, jewellery and homeware. Additionally, food trucks filled with delicious delights will serve the market throughout the day.  

Find Your Chocolate Love Match: Saturday 29th, starting at 1pm or 2pm

Hotel Chocolat Fort Kinnaird, £7.50 tickets on Eventbrite 

This 30 minute guided tour of chocolate at Hotel Chocolat focuses on tasting a diverse variety of treats, from luxurious praline to gooey caramel, to ultimately reveal your personal flavour profile. Vegan alternatives are available on request. 

March Flea Market: Saturday 29th, 10-3pm

Out of the Blue Drill Hall, Free entry 

Once again, marketeers will return to Out of the Blue’s Flea Market with racks full of vintage clothing and tables covered in antiques. Alongside shopping, the café supplies cakes and drinks for the ultimate retail therapy experience.
