The University of Edinburgh was hit with three-hour-long IT outages this morning as students woke up to find Eduroam, Learn, and MyEd unavailable.
Systems were down at the University from just past 8:00 am until 11:00 am.
In a statement on X, IS Helpline Alerts said: “As of 8.15 am this morning, Information Services are seeing unavailability for all ed.ac.uk websites, which is causing a lack of access to services such as MyEd, UniDesk, the VPN, Learn and more, including the main Uni website. This is being investigated urgently.”
The outage extended to the University cafes, including the Library Cafe, and the book return system.
The IT issues come amid dissertation hand-in period.
Tom Harrington, a final year English Literature student, said: “I really need the library at this crucial time, and not being able to go in has affected my
productivity today.”
A spokesperson from the University said: “This morning the University experienced an IT outage which affected services for students and staff including the main website and on-campus wifi. The issue was investigated urgently and caused by a technical fault. All services are now restored.”
