A fire appears to have broken out on Arthur’s seat with plumes of smoke spotted before 4pm.
The Scotsman reports that the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called out to the fire at 4.05pm.
Three appliances (fire engines) as well as specialist services are known to be in attendance.
A spokesperson said: “Crews are in attendance at a fire in the open at Arthur’s Seat, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh.
“Members of the public no longer need to alert our Operations Control room about this fire, as we are receiving a number of calls to this incident.”
Arthur’s seat is covered in gorse, a highly flammable shrub that emits large quantities of smoke when alight.

The National Trust described gorse as “a particular wildfire risk, especially around firebreaks and buildings”.
Arthur’s seat caught fire in 2019 engulfing 800 square feet and burning for multiple hours. On that occasion, nobody was hurt.
This is a developing story.
