Last week, the Social Bite cafe at Edinburgh Rose Street closed for renovation.
Social Bite is a charity supplying food, homes, and job opportunities for people experiencing homelessness or financial hardship.
Their cafes provide free food services, where customers can purchase an extra item or drink, and pay it forward for someone in need.
In an Instagram post, Social Bite said: “What will always stay the same is our commitment to the people we support.”
Their free food service is now available at St John’s Episcopal Church.
David Bagnall, the rector of St John’s, told The Student about the services provided: “We’re delighted to offer space to Social Bite as they undergo renovation.
“At St John’s we have, for a number of years, operated a soup kitchen called Welcome Space.
“We have many guests at the Welcome Space who also make use of Social Bite’s food service, and in quite a short time we got to know the team there.
“It seemed a natural solution, when their premises were about to be closed for renovation, that they would come here.
“We have a shared mission to ensure that the hungry are fed, and it was a pleasure to be able to offer our space to make sure their work can carry on uninterrupted.”
