Fringe 2024: Nadia Quinn – The Nadia Quinn Show!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

After navigating the maze of stairs down into the Royal Scots Club’s basement turned speakeasy (accessible lift available), Nadia Quinn and her band (Aaron Quinn and Matt Cusack) from New York were raring to go.

Warmed up by incredibly deadpan and witty one-liners from Alex Malaos that giggled me away, it was time for the main event. Dressed as a 60s/70s kids show host, Quinn’s musical comedy show covers bongs, manipulative cats, anal sex, and Dame Judy Dench, as well as throwing prizes and Parliaments out into the audience.

Quinn and her band’s musical talent is obvious and striking even when combined with such spoofy songs. Harmonies, guitar, and a range of other odd instruments blend effortlessly and serenade you through ‘Do you think you could pick your boyfriends dick out of a line-up?’

Fun-loving, danceable and charming, The Nadia Quinn Show! had the whole audience dancing and singing along despite being a relatively quiet night; “Like performing to just our best friends.” The show is hopeful and bright, and the closing number poignant and beautiful.

The Nadia Quinn Show is on at The Speakeasy and The Royal Scots Club 14th and 16th of Aug.
