Coffee is an essential for university life, whether it’s getting you to a 9 am lecture, an excuse to procrastinate, or even an attempt to keep you warm in the baltic Edinburgh. But what does your go-to hot beverage say about you?
Cappuccino and Latte:
You are the most neutral in the land of coffee, neither good nor bad. Chances are you picked the only thing you had heard of off the menu the first time you bought coffee, and that is all you have had since. Bonus if you are an iced latte drinker, braving the cold weather whilst pay 50p extra (?!) for some literal frozen water is a choice only a few are fearless enough to make.
Flat white:
You are a wannabe Stockbridge dweller who thinks that the way you drink coffee is the best, and you let everyone know it. It is a pretty economical choice, so you probably have a strict weekly budget, but still want to enjoy your favourite thing: coffee. You definitely have recommendations for the best coffee shops in Edinburgh.
Americano:
Either you have got a lack of tastebuds, you are always in a rush, or you do not want to break the budget with buying milk. You are single-minded, and know what you want: coffee, no matter the taste.
Mocha:
Let’s be real, you wanted a hot chocolate. You only just graduated from the strawberries and cream frappe trend, and you can’t decide if you like coffee. You have a horrific sweet tooth, and you exclusively buy these or iced lattes with a brain-numbing amount of sugar in. You are a social butterfly, but I would not want to be your dentist.
Espresso:
Sadly, you are not as fun as Sabrina Carpenter. You have a superiority complex and tell everyone how they should drink their coffee, yet you drink it in the worst way. Your personality is as strong as the coffee you drink, and you know what you want… sometimes in the worst way. On a night out your drink of choice is a whisky.
Instant coffee:
Cheap, to the point, budget friendly, unwilling to shell out the Edinburgh prices, I see you and I respect you. Instant coffee drinkers are laid back, they want a quick and easy dose of caffeine, and their biggest consideration is convenience.
Tea:
You are either a mum or an English student whose social life consists of a hot water bottle, fluffy blanket, and a book (I’m not judging, I’m relating). I trust you; you have the best biscuit selection and the cosiest room in Edinburgh. It’s giving frazzled English woman, and frankly, I’m obsessed.
Hot chocolate:
You have either never stepped foot in the library, or you have the healthiest sleep schedule known to man (I am jealous). All your budget goes towards Uplands Roast. You are fun and bubbly, nice to be around…but a little immature?
