A 2023 study commissioned by the Edinburgh Partnership found that 94% of residents are happy with life in Edinburgh.
Around 3,700 residents were interviewed.
74% of residents said that they were satisfied with services provided by the City of Edinburgh Council.
Respondents also reported high levels of satisfaction with public transport services, green spaces, health services, and sport and leisure services.
However, the survey revealed that those living in the 20% most deprived areas had a much more negative experience.
Most respondents said that they felt safe in their neighbourhoods during the day, but not during the night.
Over half said they would like to see additional police presence after dark.
Residents were least satisfied with road safety, neighbourhood cleanliness, and management of antisocial behaviour.
Council Leader Cammy Day said: “I’m delighted that our residents are so happy with Edinburgh as a place to live.”
On combatting poverty, he said: “The rise in inflation and the continuing cost-of-living crisis mean that many residents are facing the most difficult financial circumstances ever, but we are working extremely hard to lessen the impacts. The reality is that we are Scotland’s lowest funded council and ending poverty is not something we can do alone.”
An earlier survey in 2018 revealed similar rates of satisfaction.
