Scott Monument vandalised with soup

On 5 March the Scott Monument was vandalised by the organisation This Is Rigged.

The pair climbed up the stairs of the monument on Princes Street before spraying the statue of Sir Walter Scott in soup from fire extinguishers, turning the site orange.

They demanded action in response to increasing rates of food insecurity across the country, particularly in relation to the climate crisis, urging action to reduce inequalities in food access.

This Is Rigged, a direct action campaign in Scotland, have protested the cost of living crisis several times, such as in Glasgow on Monday, and have vowed to continue until their demands are met by the government.
