If you are someone who enjoys whispering “what the ever loving fuck” under their breath every other moment, this is the show for you. No where else other than at Beryl and Clive will you see a woman with the voice of Joanna Lumley whinny while straddling a french man; if you’ve not witnessed that before, now you have to. In fact, this show taught me that there is a lot of versatility to horse-like sounds.
The show sees the couple absurdly recount their shared passion for singing and is over-the-top at any opportunity. Raunchy and hilariously traumatising, the pet pug pillow taxidermy monologuing is the tamest bit on stage. I indeed mean the pug speaks. From slice-of-life to Western, contemporary-dance to operetta; if you’re willing to dip you toes into insanity, there is something for everyone.
These chaotic clowns will run circles around your psyche, and if that’s not convinced you, they’ll get you with the free chocolate and whipped cream.
Beryl and Clive, Sing or Die (Their Musical) is running at theSpace Triplex, 12-17 Aug. Tickets available here.
