Police investigate onion thrower

Police Scotland have launched an investigation after a man was reportedly struck by an onion on 29 January at 9:20 pm on Gorgie Road outside the Greggs. It was reportedly hurled at him by a pair of youths on electric bikes.

The onion disintegrated on impact and hit the guy on the back of the head. The man is said to have been “dazed” after dropping to “his knees.” He does not seem to have suffered major injuries.

The incident follows a series of ongoing worries regarding delinquent youths in Edinburgh.

One notable incident three years ago saw a woman being pelted with rocks and Irn-Bru by some similarly unruly teenagers.

Other forms of such behaviour have been noted extensively as far back as the early noughties. New data confirms that violent crimes among youths have doubled in just this last year.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
