All fairy dust, no rules – that’s Club NVRLND. A y2k fever dream where Peter Pan parties like it’s 2005 and the bass drops harder than reality. With pop bangers from Britney, Beyoncé, Timberlake, and Katy Perry on heavy rotation, this immersive show transforms the Peter Pan myth into a full-blown night out. There are no seats, just a crowd packed into a thumping club space, where you’re part of the party from the moment you walk in. It’s sweaty, loud, and joyfully chaotic. Exactly the kind of Neverland that Peter Pan would never want to leave.
Wendy’s on the cusp of marriage when she stumbles back into the neon-drenched world of NVRLND and reconnects with Peter, who’s facing a new existential crisis: he turns 30 at midnight. Hook, now a rival nightclub owner across the street, adds a dash of villainy to this nostalgic, chaotic reimagining of Neverland’s lost boys.
Dialogue, dancing, and vocals happen inches away from you, often in the crowd, as performers sing, shimmy, and climb up on moving boxes to create a fluid, ever-shifting performance space. It’s exhilarating, intimate, and immersive in a way that genuinely makes you feel like you’ve stepped inside the story. The cast are magnetic. They don’t just sell the party — they are the party. Vocals are powerful, choreography is sharp, and their ability to keep the energy high while navigating a packed and moving crowd is seriously impressive.
That said, there are a few growing pains. The sound balance wasn’t perfect at times, making it tricky to catch some dialogue over the club music and loud crowd. It’s a difficult balance to find in this kind of environment, but hopefully one that will be fine-tuned as the run progresses. With the audience on their feet and constantly moving, sightlines can sometimes be challenging depending on where you’re standing. However, because the performers move throughout the space and mingle with the crowd, everyone still gets plenty of chances to see them up close, even if a few moments are harder to catch.
Club NVRLND is a night out dressed up as theatre. Or maybe theatre disguised as a night out. Either way, it’s bold, chaotic, and genuinely feels like something “new”. If you’ve ever wanted to belt ‘Unwritten’ while being serenaded by a rockstar Peter Pan, this one’s for you.
Catch Club NVRLND at 21:15 from 30 July to 24 August (not 6, 13 or 20) at Assembly Checkpoint.
