If there’s one thing Keir Starmer and I can agree on, it is that Reform UK is a dangerous threat to Britain. What I don’t understand is why Starmer agrees with me.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and when I look at Starmer’s broadcasts, his posts on X, and the party line that he has set, it looks like Labour is doing quite a lot of flattery.
A cursory glance at Starmer’s social media and you will see how he is spinelessly capitulating to every line that Reform manufactures. His team releases posts about crushing criminal migrant gangs, closing migrant hotels, sending back channel crossers, and more – not to mention Starmer recently declaring his love for the England flag, in response to the recent nationwide mass hysteria of flag erection and spray paint vandalism. Not only is this deeply pathetic, it is also entirely unconvincing to the sort of people Starmer is trying to court.
What we have seen since Labour took office in 2024 is seemingly the most right-wing government in quite some years. Not only have they taken over the mantle of austerity from the Tories, but they have also spent most of their time using anti-immigration rhetoric and policy to pander to the absolute dregs of our society. It appears that they are mainly targeting the floating voters doing Nazi salutes outside the Cladhan hotel in Falkirk, and the thugs who instigated and participated in race riots across the UK last summer.
Starmer is actively making life a lot easier for Nigel Farage. As the PM and leader of the largest party, he possesses great power to shape the national conversation, yet instead of putting forward any sort of alternative message, he is singing off the same hymn sheet as a racist with four MPs.
So here is my question for Starmer: why do you want to stop Reform? Why is it that Reform is bad? Are their policies bad in and of themselves, or are they only tainted by Farage, and “purified” when you adopt them? If you try to outflank and be “tougher on” every issue Reform campaigns on, not only will you fail (just look at Kamala Harris in 2024), but you will also become the very thing you sought to destroy.
