Changes in the Law Library opening hours have come into effect, with the space available later into the evening to cater for extra demand.
The extended opening hours range from: Monday-Thursday (9am-8pm), Friday (9am-7pm), Saturday-Sunday (12pm-5pm).
Over the summer months, the Law Library opening hours were significantly reduced to weekdays from 9am- 4:50pm.
A spokesperson for the Law Library told The Student: “We have altered opening hours to align with times when usage is higher, taking into consideration resource efficiency and the availability of alternative study spaces and online service support.”
The increased hours will allow students to study for longer durations of time throughout the week and on weekends.
The help desk will be open from Monday-Thursday (9am-7:50pm), Friday (9am-6:50pm), Saturday-Sunday (12pm-4:50pm).
Both the Law Library and the Law School are situated in Old College.
The library itself specialises in Scots, UK, European and International law, housing the majority of Edinburgh University’s law collections.
Spanning three floors, the library is solely for silent study and is a highly popular study space.
Similar changes in opening hours are being implemented across the majority of Edinburgh University’s libraries to accommodate students.
More information about the opening hours of each library can be found on the Edinburgh University Libraries website, here.
