The biggest story of the transfer window was at Celtic Park. Heroic striker Kyogo Furuhashi left for Rennes in a deal worth £10m — but his former teammate Jota moved the opposite direction, completing a long-awaited return to Glasgow for £9m.
A further reunion with Kieran Tierney failed to materialise, with injury-dogged Arsenal deciding to hold onto the Scottish defender until the summer, when his contract expires; Celtic will try again then, but they did bring Crystal Palace’s versatile Jeffrey Schlupp on loan: Schlupp’s profile differs from Tierney’s, but the 32-year-old Ghana international can play at left-back or in midfield, and he notably played a key part in Leicester City’s unlikely Premier League title triumph in 2015-16. He will provide depth for Greg Taylor at left-back, with Alexander Bernabei and Alex Valle both moving on.
Kilmarnock have signed Liverpool right-back Calvin Ramsay on loan. Injury-bedevilled Aberdeen have made a host of transfers, with loans for Preston winger Jeppe Okkels, defenders Kristers Tobers from Grasshopper and Alfie Dorrington from Tottenham, and the signing of full-back Alexander Jensen from IF Brommapojkarna. Duk has left for Leganes.
Hearts sold Liam Boyce to Derry City and Kye Rowles to D.C. United, but brought in centre-back Jamie McCart, formerly of St Johnstone, and completed a loan for Royal Union Saint-Gilloise forward Elton Kabangu. Hibs brought in Gambian midfielder Alasana Manneh but loaned out Nohan Kenneh to Ross County, where he joined ex-Huddersfield Town forward Kieran Phillips. Scotland international Eamonn Brophy has left Dingwall for Falkirk on loan.
St Johnstone have brought Arabe Unido’s Victor Griffith, RFS’s Daniel Balodis, and Allsvenskan’s Jonathan Svedberg on permanent deals, but Kyle Cameron and Lewis Neilson have been recalled from loan by Notts County and Hearts respectively. Dundee completed loans for English Premier League defenders Aaron Donnelly and Imari Samuels, while former Motherwell midfielder Allan Campbell returned to Scotland with Dundee United.
Motherwell managed to keep hold of starlet Lennon Miller — for now — and have brought in three keepers on loan, including Norwich’s Turriff-born Archie Mair, and Brentford’s Ellery Balcombe, who spent the first half of the season on loan at St Mirren. Zach Hemming, who made 38 appearances for the Buddies last year, returns there on loan.
Rangers agreed a loan for Lille centre-back Rafael Fernandes, let Rabbi Matondo and Kieran Dowell leave on loan, and agreed a pre-contract deal for 22 year-old midfielder Lyall Cameron, who will join from Dundee in the summer.
